marsie takes up the Kunsthalle’s working method ‘Fermenting – work in progress’ with Doing NoThing as an active process of perceiving the present.
Based on the concept of permaculture with Doing NoThing marsie draws attention to people and their surrounding space. As an alternative to performance, self-optimisation, pressure to perform and economic-capitalist growth the supposedly simple existence is given space for dialogues about the political, material, spatial and humanitarian relevance of artistic creation.

marsie is conceptual art as social sculpture and was initiated in 2012 by Simone Etter as a collective strategy in collaboration with Marianne Papst. marsie endeavours to act through an anti-authoritarian concept of art and transformative, sustainable art production – sustainable in the sense of resources and knowledge, with the intention of sharing privileges, skills and means.

marsie will present their work in two public moments on
6 th November, 6 – 8 p.m.
1 st December, 2 p.m.

Features is an art education series at Kunsthalle Bern. Art educators are hosted by the Kunsthalle Bern for six months and respond to the current exhibitions or the Kunsthalle Bern as a space and institution from their own context and practice. The result is an exchange that enables shifts, expansions and openings.
