Picnic on the data stream – Workshop

in the exhibition by Rahima Gambo

Sunday, 4 September 2022, 02–05 pm

Please sign up until 2 September via: info_at_kunsthalle-bern.ch
The workshop is open to the public, free of charge and suitable for people aged 15 and over.

We spend a lot of time in digital worlds and have accumulated a lot of knowledge about the digital that we often are not aware of. With a common walk through the algorithmic environments of social media feeds we explore this implicit knowledge about the digital in the workshop. We try to find traces of the algorithmic order and to share our experiences, expectations or even alienation in order to learn from each other.
It is not about understanding the algorithmic order conclusively, but about getting a feeling for this other kind of space.
The resulting collection of themes, questions, screenshots, memes, cartographies and drawings will be collected in an alternative, digital social media tool created especially for this workshop: an attempt at personal infrastructure for ephemeral communities.

Shusha Niederberger www.shusha.ch is an artist, art and cultural mediator of the digital and researches user practice in data-intensive environments. She teaches contemporary net culture at the F+F School of Art and Media in Zurich.
This workshop is part of her work in the research project “Latent Spaces – Performing Ambiguous Data”, IFCAR (Institute for Contemporary Art Research), ZHdK. https://latentspaces.zhdk.ch
